Honda has announced a line-up of concepts at the Tokyo Motor Show, including concept commuter vehicles designed for easy and fun mobility, and a new sports concept, hinting at the design direction of future models.

Honda unveiled the all-new Fit (Jazz) EV Concept electric vehicle and the platform for a mid-size plug-in hybrid vehicle. Both vehicles are integral to the Honda Electric Mobility Network, the company's comprehensive approach to reducing CO2 emissions through innovative products, energy management and energy production technologies.

The Fit EV Concept hints strongly at the direction and styling for Honda's upcoming production Fit EV all-electric vehicle, which will be introduced to the US and Japan in 2012. The all-new plug-in hybrid platform showcases Honda's next-generation, two-motor hybrid technology set to debut in 2012.

Honda will unveil an electric vehicle concept at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show, alongside a plug-in hybrid platform that showcases the next generation of Honda hybrid technology. Video of both unveils will be streamed online.

The Honda press conference is at 13.20 (LA time) on Wednesday, 17 November (that's 21.20 in the UK).

Honda could be set to launch an all-electric city car at the Tokyo motor show in October, according to reports in Japan.

Honda has long favoured hydrogen fuel-cell technology over all-electric cars, but it could be forced into adopting electric technology due to the slow set-up and huge cost of hydrogen networks around the world.
