Honda will be boosting its hybrid line-up in 2010 with a petrol-electric Jazz.

The world's first hybrid supermini will be powered by the same mechanicals as the forthcoming Insight hatchback.

Honda has cancelled the new NSX as part of a radical restructuring of its car making business. The V10-engined supercar, which was a direct challenge to Ferrari and Porsche, would have been the most powerful production car that the company had ever produced.

On 26 November 2008, Honda's new Accord achieved the first three star pedestrian test rating for the Large Family class in the latest Euro NCAP crash test results published. In addition, the Accord has the best overall performance for combined safety in this class with 5 star adult protection, 4 star child protection and 3 star pedestrian protection.

Honda is pulling out of Formula One, blaming the world economic crisis for plans to sell its team. The decision leaves Englishman Jenson Button and 2009 team-mate Rubens Barrichello without drives, with only a few mid-ranking seats still available.

Honda, which spent more than £300m a year on F1, said it would also no longer supply the sport with engines.

This is the first picture of the production-ready Honda Insight hybrid due to be shown at the Detroit motor show next month.

Very little has changed from the Insight Concept shown at the Paris motor show. The striking front grille of the show car has been toned down, with the distinctive LED light clusters replaced by more conventional units.

The Accord i-DTEC automatic will go on sale in January 2009 priced from £22,400. Honda will launch its first automatic transmission for a diesel engine in 2009, with the new gearbox featuring in the Accord.

The Japanese manufacturer expects automatic transmission in the Accord to appeal to a new segment of customers, particularly in the corporate market, where it considers high mileage user choosers often will only consider an automatic transmission.
