From 1 April 2025, Vehicle Excise Duty (VED) rates are set to rise, impacting both petrol and diesel vehicles, as well as electric cars for the first time.
In addition, from 7 April 2025, Honda is increasing it's prices on all models.
If you are considering purchasing a new Honda, now is the time to act to avoid these additional costs.
What's changing?
In the 2024 Autumn Budget, the government announced changes to VED to “incentivise the purchase of zero-emission and electric cars by widening the gaps between electric, hybrid and ICE cars tax rates.”
- Petrol & Diesel Vehicles: VED rates are increasing across the board, meaning higher costs for new registrations.
- Electric Vehicles: From April 2025, newly registered EVs will no longer be exempt from VED, meaning owners will start paying road tax for the first time.
- Honda is increasing it's prices by approximately 1.5% from 7th April.
The VED changes are particularly significant for the CR-V e:HEV Hybrid models (excluding Advance Tech e:PHEV) and for the Civic Type R.
Beat the price increases
By purchasing and registering your new Honda before the 1st April 2025 deadline, you can lock in the current lower rates and avoid the increased costs.
