The new Honda Civic is built at Swindon

Honda of the UK Manufacturing (HUM) has today informed associates (employees) of the proposal to close its Swindon vehicle manufacturing plant, at the end of the current model's production life cycle, in 2021. The plant currently produces 150,000 cars per year, and employs circa 3,500 associates.

Martin Williams standing outside the Parts retail counter

We are delighted to announce that our parts supervisor, Martin Williams, completed his 30th year of service on Wednesday.

Martin joined us in 1989 at the age of 30, recruited to the role of Senior Parts Person, under our parts supervisor Ian Essex. At the time our managing director was still our founder - Michael Roberts, and Trident Honda was an Austin Rover main dealer selling Austin Metro, Maestro, Montego, Rover 200 (based on the Honda Ballade) and the new Rover 800 (based on the Honda Legend). Trident Honda had celebrated its 25th anniversary in the previous year.

My interview was with MR (Michael Roberts) and afterwards he brought me down and introduced me to Ian. Ian and myself were very similar in attitude and outlook and we got on straight from the start.

For the first time the new 2019 Honda CR-V includes the option of 7 seats on selected petrol grades. The new 7 seat Honda CR‑V keeps its effortless 'one-motion' folding rear seat, whilst offering a third row, with two extra seats. When not in use the seats fold neatly away.

The new Honda HR-V 1.5 Sport

Honda has revealed details of the new HR-V Sport. This new grade for the revised 2019 model is equipped with the more powerful 1.5-litre VTEC TURBO petrol engine as well as dynamic upgrades to the chassis and suspension. The HR-V Sport also benefits from the refreshed exterior styling and interior upgrades of the standard 2019 HR-V, with additional bespoke design features.
