Another spectacular Dragon Boat Race at Goldsworth Park Lake

Trident Honda was once again proud to be the principal sponsor of the Woking & Sam Beare Hospice Dragon Boat Races, held on Sunday 8 June 2025 at Goldsworth Park Lake. This spectacular event was launched eleven years ago and is dedicated to the memory of Kris Cook, who tragically died in 2014 while raising funds for the Hospice during the London/Surrey Prudential Bike Ride.

The day began with a vibrant Dragon Awakening ceremony, featuring a traditional lion dance performed by the Chinese Association. As part of the blessing ritual, the eyes of the dragon boats were painted by Kris' mother, Sue Cook; Tammy Stracey, Clinical Director and Deputy CEO of the Hospice; and our own Richard Roberts, Managing Director of Trident Honda, proud event sponsors.

Our team, the Trident Otters, joined more than 20 local teams in taking to the water for a day of spirited competition. While we didn't claim victory, we thoroughly enjoyed the camaraderie, community spirit, and enthusiastic support from the crowd!

The event also offered a range of activities for all ages, including live entertainment, food stalls, children?s attractions and more. All proceeds from the day support the essential services provided by Woking & Sam Beare Hospice, which delivers specialist palliative and end-of-life care throughout Surrey.

We extend our thanks to the Hospice team, volunteers and fellow participants for another memorable day, and we look forward to taking part again next year.
