Trident Honda Ottershaw is proud to continue its long-standing support of Weybridge Vandals RFC, and we were delighted to receive an update from the club following an outstanding season for their senior rugby squad.
The Weybridge Vandals 1st XV achieved 21 league and cup wins, equalling the club record, and secured promotion from Surrey & Sussex Counties 1. Next season, the club will play at Level 6 - the highest level Weybridge Vandals RFC has reached in the rugby pyramid since league rugby was first introduced in the 1980s.
It has also been a memorable season for the Super 2s, who completed a superb league and cup double against strong opposition.
Club President Kev Keaney thanked Trident Honda for its continued support, highlighting the important role sponsors play in helping the club create a positive environment for players. Rather than paying players, Weybridge Vandals remain committed to investing in coaching, physio support, facilities, kit and equipment.
At Trident Honda Ottershaw, we are very proud to support a club that is achieving success in the right way - through hard work, commitment, community values and a strong club culture.
Richard Roberts, Managing Director of Trident Honda, said:
“On behalf of everyone at Trident Honda Ottershaw, I would like to offer our sincere congratulations to Kevin, the coaching team, players, volunteers and everyone involved with Weybridge Vandals RFC on what is clearly an outstanding season both on and off the pitch. To achieve promotion to Level 6, the highest position in the club’s history since league rugby began, is a tremendous accomplishment. The success of both the 1st XV and the Super 2s is incredibly impressive and reflects the strength and depth throughout the club. We have greatly valued our long-standing relationship with Weybridge Vandals RFC and it is wonderful to see the club continuing to grow and achieve such deserved success.”
Everyone at Trident Honda Ottershaw congratulates Weybridge Vandals RFC on a fantastic season and wishes the club every success for the season ahead.
About the Weybridge Vandals RFC
'The Vandals' can be traced back to the London School of Economics in the early 1930's, when Frederick Monkhouse and John Scurr, both forwards in the college first team, issued an invitation addressed to all 'rugger' men throughout London University to attend a meeting at the Ship Tavern in Gate St, Holborn on 18 March 1932.
Weybridge Vandals caters for all age groups from Mini rugby at Under 5, through to Junior rugby up to Under 19, and three senior sides, including a 1st team playing at a respectable level within the London South West 3 league, with good coverage of games in the local press, and a veterans' side for those that just don't know when to hang up their boots!
The club is always pleased to see new faces, whether as players, spectators, or volunteers who would like to get involved with the Club in some way.
