Choosing your next Honda
There has been much debate about diesel cars and their emissions, both CO2, NOx and particulates. In order to make a decision on your next car, you need to understand these emission types and how they relate to the sort of driving you do:
- CO2 - contributes to global warning and is a threat to the planet
- NOx and particulates - affect local air quality and are an urban challenge

Trident Honda partnered with Woking & Sam Beare Hospices for the annual Dragon Boat Race on 25 June, which is expected to raise a final total of more than £18,000, including pledged sponsorship from the rowing teams.
The event, which is held at Goldsworth Park Lake, is sponsored by Trident Honda and in memory of Kris Cook, who grew up close to the lake where he pursued his love of water sports and was a keen supporter of Woking & Sam Beare Hospices.
The race saw teams of 12-20 people taking the plunge to race across the lake in special boats, competing against the clock and each other to win a place in the final race of the day. 12 teams took to the waters, with spectators gathered lake side in the sunshine to watch the teams compete. Activities and hospitality were also on offer with a bouncy castle, BBQ, tombola, face painting and games stalls to entertain and raise funds for Woking & Sam Beare Hospices.
Phil Wormley, the director of fundraising for the Woking & Sam Beare Hospices, comments:
On behalf of all of us at the hospice I extend a huge thank you to our event sponsor, Trident Honda, to their team the Trident Otters and to all the teams who took part in the Dragon Boat Race. We deliver specialist palliative care to over 1,400 patients with life-limiting and terminal illnesses each year across six Surrey boroughs and we would not be able to do it without the generosity of our supporters.
Richard Roberts, managing director at Trident Honda, commented:
We are always delighted to sponsor the Dragon Boat Race and provide support to such a worthy cause. Thanks to our team the Trident Otters for taking part, we may not have won but with just 17 seconds between the first and the last teams it was a hard fought battle! There was a fantastic turnout from the local community on the day and the weather couldn't have been better for it. We look forward to continuing our partnership with Woking & Sam Beare Hospices and helping to raise much needed funds.
After an exciting day of heats, it was the Amstelveense Stadtdraken team who won first place, from Woking's twin town in the Netherlands. Close second came Seymour Estate Agents, followed by the Reg Varney Rowing Club.
Please see a full video of the day below:
And another video of the final race:
The Dragon Boat Race dates back 2000 years throughout southern China and is now taken place annually for 20 centuries. It is a water sport that has attracted the international scene with its religious ceremonies and folk customers. Before every race, a ritual is performed as a good luck charm for all the teams.
For more information please go to http://www.wsbhospices.co.uk.

McLaren-Honda is delighted to announce its new driver line-up for 2015: Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button. Kevin Magnussen will remain an important part of the team, as test and reserve driver.
All three men will play crucial roles in re-establishing the ascendancy of one of global sport's most iconic unions, for McLaren and Honda have already formed one of the most dominant partnerships in motorsport history: Honda broke new ground in the 1980s by creating a turbocharged engine that was unparalleled in both its output and its efficiency. In 1988, the partnership created arguably the single most successful Formula 1 car of all time: the all-conquering McLaren-Honda MP4/4, which was driven to victory by Ayrton Senna and Alain Prost in an amazing 15 of the season's 16 grands prix.Continue Reading

After 12 frustrating years for both ourselves and local community, the council have recognised the problem that was caused by erecting the bollards along the boundary with our site and are now working to correct the problem.
Whilst the council had always accepted our right to have vehicle deliveries, they had wrongly calculated that there would be sufficient space for both a vehicle transporter and the normal traffic. Although that is indeed the case for cars and motorcycles, there is insufficient space for vans and lorries, which then causes the delays that we all know so well.Continue Reading

RoSPA (The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents) has a useful page on Winter driving.
Driving in the winter is very different than in other times of the year. Adverse weather and longer periods of darkness (especially after the clocks go back at the end of October) makes driving more hazardous. Sometimes conditions can be extreme, as we have found out over the last two winters in particular, with prolonged periods of heavy snow and floods.
This means that we need to adapt the way we drive.

If you don't want to change your current car, there are still ways you can drive greener:
Lose Some Weight
Don't drive around with unnecessary weight in your car - the engine will have to work harder and use more fuel. Empty your car of anything that you don't need to carry around all the time. Remove roof boxes and roof racks when you're not using them - they cause extra aerodynamic drag, which will raise your fuel consumption. Open windows and sunroofs do the same; and for the same reason, get any loose items of external trim fixed.Continue Reading
